You will have lunch en route before proceeding through scenic landscapes towards the park, which is known for its elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes and diverse birdlife. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short afternoon game drive or relax at your lodge while taking in views of the surrounding wilderness. Day 2: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

You will begin the day with an early breakfast before heading into Queen Elizabeth National Park for a guided game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. These open grasslands provide excellent opportunities to search for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, waterbucks and warthogs, while lions may be spotted resting in the grass or moving through the plains. Your guide will help you identify wildlife and explain the relationships between predators, prey and their habitats. After the morning game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. During the cruise, you may see hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes gathering along the banks, as well as numerous waterbirds. You will return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay, ready for the journey towards Bwindi the following day.

Day 3: Ishasha Wildlife Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and travel through the Ishasha sector, an area famous for its tree-climbing lions. You will enjoy a game drive through the open grasslands, searching for lions resting in fig trees, elephants, buffaloes, topis and other wildlife. Although sightings depend on animal movements and conditions, Ishasha offers a distinctive opportunity to explore one of the park’s quieter wildlife areas. You will then continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through scenic highlands, cultivated hillsides and traditional communities. The landscape becomes increasingly mountainous as you approach the dense rainforest that protects endangered mountain gorillas. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and enjoy time to relax after the journey. Your guide will brief you about the next day’s gorilla trekking activity, including the importance of following ranger instructions and preparing for a potentially demanding forest walk. You will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in preparation for your gorilla encounter.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have an early breakfast before travelling to the designated gorilla trekking briefing point in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Experienced park rangers will explain the trekking procedures, safety guidelines and conservation rules before assigning you to a habituated gorilla family. Accompanied by rangers and trackers, you will enter the rainforest and follow forest trails through thick vegetation, uneven ground and steep slopes in search of the gorillas. The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ location and the terrain, so sturdy hiking boots, drinking water and a rain jacket are recommended. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend the permitted one hour observing their behaviour, including feeding, grooming, resting and interactions between adults and young gorillas. Your guide will help you understand their social structure and the conservation initiatives that protect their habitat. After the trek, you will return to the starting point and transfer back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The remainder of the afternoon will be free for enjoying the lodge surroundings or participating in an optional community activity before dinner.

The journey offers scenic views of southwestern Uganda’s highlands, with opportunities to observe rural life and traditional farming practices along the way. On arrival, you will check in at your accommodation and enjoy lunch overlooking the lake or the surrounding countryside. In the afternoon, you may take a guided boat excursion to explore some of the lake’s islands and learn about their history and cultural significance. You can also visit a nearby community to learn about local livelihoods and the traditions of people living around the lake. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, you can spend the afternoon enjoying the lodge facilities and taking in the peaceful scenery. In the evening, you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay beside the lake, reflecting on your wildlife and gorilla trekking experiences.
