With Silverback Tour, you enjoy a carefully arranged experience that combines wildlife exploration, cultural encounters and comfortable relaxation. Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking or Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, you will travel to the park headquarters at Kinigi for a briefing by the park authorities and professional ranger-guides. Depending on your selected permit, you will embark on either mountain gorilla trekking or golden monkey tracking, two of Rwanda’s most celebrated primate experiences. If you choose gorilla trekking, you will hike through dense vegetation and forested mountain slopes in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family, learning about their behaviour, social structures and conservation along the way. Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed a carefully regulated period of approximately one hour to observe them, photograph their activities without flash and appreciate these remarkable endangered primates. Alternatively, golden monkey tracking takes you into the bamboo forests at the foot of the Virunga Mountains, where you can observe these lively, distinctive primates feeding, playing and moving through their natural habitat.
After your trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and a relaxing afternoon, with the opportunity to enjoy the mountain scenery, spa facilities where available or a quiet evening by the fireplace before dinner.
